13-14.10.2009 - The 1st European Innovation Summit in Brussels.
Technology Partners was responsible for preparation of the Open Innovation - Communicating and Sharing R&D for Innovations panel discussion which was part of Session 5, Reshaping R&D for Excellence In Innovation. The purpose of the session was to discuss present and future innovation activity in Europe in the context of strengthening and developing the European Research Area.
The summit was organised by Knowledge4Innovation, a platform of the European Parliament whose tasks are to promote and support European innovation initiatives. The summit is expected to become Europe’s pre-eminent annual event devoted to the topic of innovation.
The event included conference sessions, discussion panels, exhibitions and other, less formal meetings. The purpose of the meetings and discussions was to enable exchange of knowledge and experience regarding actions undertaken by European organisations and institutions in order to promote increased economic and scientific innovation. The Brussels summit, whose main objective was to highlight the importance of innovation and effective generating and management of innovation, took place during the process of formulating new European strategies, including innovation policy.
Invited guests included representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and its Directorates-General, European institutions involved in supporting innovation initiatives, and business and science circles. The Plenary Session was opened by Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament.
During the exhibition Technology Partners presented its international cooperation offer and potential.
